About Me

Welcome! My name is Alexandra, but most people refer to me as Sasha. I am a Los Angeles native but spent my summers in the Czech Republic, giving me a multicultural upbringing. Currently, I'm an Associate Marriage and Family therapist, working under the supervision of Dr. Jane Shomof, LMFT. With a focus on children, individuals, and families, my mission is to guide clients on a journey of promoting healthy brain growth through the utilization of neuroplasticity. By harnessing the brain's remarkable ability to rewire itself based on new experiences, we can together discover new ways of relating to the world and create lasting positive change.

I love to work with individuals who are trying to gain an understanding of their past experiences, as most of our emotional wounds are developmental and occurred early on in life. Drawing from my background in child and adolescent development, I'm truly a developmental psychotherapist at heart. I help to explore how past experiences and relationships shape and influence our minds, our bodies and how we show up in relationships throughout the entire lifespan. My approach is firmly rooted in a trauma-informed perspective, recognizing that no person is simply "good" or "bad." Rather, the choices we make are deeply influenced by the context in which we were raised and the environments that have impacted us.

Treatment

"Trauma is not what happens to you, it's what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you. Trauma is that scarring that makes you less flexible, more rigid, less feeling and more defended." - Gabor Mate, MD.

I offer a safe and supportive space to explore the impact of  your past experiences on your current life. I believe that a better understanding of our past helps us to be liberated from the limiting beliefs and unhealthy behaviors that have been developed as coping strategies. Through this process, we can learn to make conscious choices that are in alignment with our true selves.
