About Me
My name is Alexandra, but most people know me as Sasha. I'm an Associate Marriage and Family therapist, working under the supervision of Dr. Jane Shomof, LMFT. With a focus on children, individual adults, and families, my mission is to guide clients on a journey towards mental wellbeing and living with joyful authenticity.

I love to work with individuals who are trying to gain an understanding of the root of their symptoms and behaviors, as most of our emotional wounds occurred early on in life and without our recognition. Drawing from my background in child and adolescent development, I help to explore how past experiences and relationships shape and influence our minds, our bodies and how we behave in relationships throughout the lifespan. My approach is firmly rooted in a trauma-informed perspective, recognizing that the experience of trauma is anything that alters the way we move through the world. The choices and patterns we make or find ourselves stuck in are deeply influenced by the context in which we were raised and the environments that have impacted us.

"Trauma is not what happens to you, it's what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you. Trauma is that scarring that makes you less flexible, more rigid, less feeling and more defended." - Gabor Mate, MD.
I offer a safe and supportive space to explore the impact of your past experiences on your current life. I believe that a better understanding of our past helps us to be liberated from the limiting beliefs and unhealthy behaviors that have been developed as coping strategies. Through this process, we can learn to make conscious choices that are in alignment with our true selves.
